We also had an Acapella group come from our Bedford & Lexington High Schools to perform during the fair.  The Pitch Pipes from LHS and the

We had a great raffle table and a special raffle of a Gronk signed photo from the 2015 superbowl, won by LABBB’s own Peter Kimball.  (photo donated by a LABBB staff that would like to remain anonymous).

Upcoming new and old programs at LABBB Recreation Dept.

We have made it through a rough snow time at LABBB after school rec.

We did unfortunately have to cancel the trip to Motown. We had some really disappointed students and staff. This trip actually got cancelled on the first night we were supposed to go and then cancelled again on the rescheduled date LABBB was supposed to go. It just wasn’t meant to be that we see this show.

We also had to miss two meetings of the Trans. Rec. Program but we were able to make those two dates up at the end of February. This program is now over for this school year but like last year it was a huge success and we will have another session Jan.-Feb. 2016.

LABBB moves on to new programs starting and hopefully nice spring weather do move outside with our programs.

Bowling is starting up the first week of March. Wed. Rec. will start mid March with a couple of new activities; Fashion Time and art class.

LABBB Rec. knows that Saturday’s can be a long day at home with nothing to do for our students. LABBB is trying to recognize this need and is bringing back our Biking Club on Saturday’s and a new Golf Group on Saturday’s. Flyers and more information will be coming in the mail to students mid March. We can not enroll all students but if biking or golfing are a favorite activity to do, then we hope that LABBB high school students will come join their friends and do it together with LABBB.

LABBB has joined with the Lex. Rec. Dept. for a drop in recreation group on Saturday mornings in March. Please go to :www.lexingtonma.gov/recreationdepartment.cfm or call 781-698-4800 to see about registering for the Open Gym at Estabrook School in Lex.

LABBB will be joining the Cotting Challenger Baseball League. LABBB will have a team of 15 players that will go to Cotting School in Lex. to play on Saturday mornings. This is open to middle and high school LABBB students. The registration form will be sent out at the beginning of April. This activity will start the first Saturday of May.

Coming real soon! March 12th, is the LABBB staff vs students basketball game. We have our players for each team now we need the fans. Please join us at Lex. High Gym at 6:30-8:30PM to cheer on your peers or favorite teacher. $5.00 entrance fee at the door. Hope to see you there.

LABBB Craft Fair

Yesterday was one of LABBB’s biggest fundraisers to help their five Best Buddies Chapters at LABBB.

LABBB had a beautiful day weather wise. LABBB had a full turnout of vendors for our space, LABBB had Best Buddies helping from Chenery, Arlington, Bedford and Lexington.  We had a vendor that was a past grad and a vendor that is a current student at LABBB.  LABBB had staff as well as two of our faculty advisors from Bedford and Lexington Chapters.  LABBB had the Lexington Lions Club there with their coat drive.  LABBB had the Lexington High Pitch Pipes Acapella group.  LABBB is part of the community and some of the community and LABBB families came to join in the fundraiser as well as fun event.  We had over 30 raffle prizes and delicious food from Meat@Slims.  This was a fun community event that helped LABBB’s Best Buddies chapter’s give back to their LABBB Buddies by doing monthly activities and to be trained in how to work with our LABBB students.

This blogger has worked for LABBB for over 30 years and to see an event like this and to see the community coming out to support LABBB and know what LABBB is to their community is a wonderful thing beyond words.  It was not like this 30 years ago.  Not many people knew what LABB was at the time.  Not many knew what LABB stood for.  Now LABBB has grown (not by just adding a B), more people know of the program and what LABBB can do, will do and how LABBB can change to meet needs.

LABBB vows to make this fundraiser bigger next year by doing two things.

1.  Giving you the date for this event now, so you will have a year to plan for it.  Dec. 5, 2015.

2.  Giving each vendor that was with us this year a $10.00 discount ,if they join us again next year.

LABBB wants to thank all the people that helped put this event on and those that came to support it.

LABBB staff saw faces that we see every year and we saw new faces.  LABBB would like more of what we saw this year, to join us again next year.

Thanks to all and see you next year with bells on.
